Summer Programs

Our inclusive summer Learning Programs bring together children ages 5-13 with and without disabilities in unique lessons designed to promote tolerance, acceptance, and fun through equine-related activities. 

 

Riders can choose from one of our unique specialty equine programs. or our inclusive horseback riding group.  Students will participate in daily horseback riding lessons, arts and crafts, and horsemanship activities along with activities designed for each specialized session. Team building activities include games, barn chores and other activities that build new friendships.

Summer 2020 Equine-Assisted Learning Dates

GirlPower! Summer Program

July 6 -10, 2020

GirlPower! is a fun and challenging summer horse program where girls ages 8-13 explore important skills such as asserting healthy boundaries, managing obstacles, and challenges through equine-assisted activities. Daily riding lessons are part of the fun.

BraveHEARTs Camp

July 13-17, 2020

9:00 - 2:00

The BraveHEARTs Summer Program brings together children of Military and First Responder Personnel who understand growing up in this unique family dynamic. Daily riding, crafts, and horse activities foster strong bonds and new friendships.

BraveHEARTs Camp is offered at half the price of our regular camp to the children of Military and First Responder Personnel*

Pony Tales - Horse Powered Reading Program

July 20 - 24, 2020

9:00 - 2:00

Help your struggling student become a better reader through equine-assisted learning combined with research-based reading strategies. The instructor will guide activities where students utilize their mind, body, and emotions while the horse adds an additional challenge.  Students will build confidence while exploring basic reading skills.  For children in grades K-3.

Social Skills Camp

July 27 - 31, 2020

9:00 - 2:00

Working with horses as well as riding reinforce basic social skills. Working in the barn, reciprocal interactions, i.e. sharing, personal space, cooperation, and communication are taught using a naturalistic teaching method while students work cooperatively.  Social Skills Camp is a specialized program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, related developmental disorders, ADD, ADHD, and other learning disabilities.

Kamp ‘Neigh’bor

Week 1: August 3-7, 2020

Week 2:  August 10-14. 2020

This inclusive summer program brings together children with and without disabilities for a fun-filled week of horseback riding, arts and crafts, barn activities and more.

Children will learn about horses while making new friends.

 

Riding with HEART offers a wide range of Equine-Assisted Activities to individuals and their families. We provide a comprehensive, inclusive and therapeutic environment to participants with a wide range of disabilities including, but not limited to ADD/ADHD, Autism, PDD NOS, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Visual Impairments or Traumatic Brain Injury.  All of the Therapeutic Riding Instructors at RWH are PATH certified and our professional therapists hold proper credentials and /or licenses.
