BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Volunteers are a vital part of the RWH team and essential to a successful therapeutic riding program. Volunteers assist riders with disabilities by leading, side walking, grooming and tacking up horses. Volunteers also have the opportunity to take part in varied barn chores and assisting with fundraising events.
Volunteering can give you a deep sense of satisfaction and pride. Imagine the feeling knowing your contribution makes it possible for a child or adult to safely and enjoyably ride a horse. Hearing a child's laugh or seeing tears in the eyes of a Mom witnessing her child accomplish a goal they struggled so hard to achieve is one of the most rewarding feelings you'll ever have.
Even if you have never worked with horses before there is an opportunity for you at RWH. Whether it is working with students and horses, working around the barn or helping in the office, there is something here for everyone. Come join our team! If you are interested in volunteering, please either contact us or fill out the form and drop by the office.

FAQs about Volunteering
How much time do I need to volunteer?
You need to commit to at least 2 hours a week. You will sign up for a time slot that you'll be expected to work every week but more time volunteering is always welcomed.
What if I can't make my scheduled time?
We understand that emergencies arise so please contact the office as soon as you know you won't be able to come at your scheduled time. Some riders must have volunteers with them or they cannot ride and with everyone's busy schedule short notice may put us at a disadvantage.
Can I ride the horses if I'm a volunteer?
Yes, RWH offers a discount to volunteers for riding lessons.
Do I have to clean stalls?
Volunteers are not required to clean stalls but many don't mind and enjoy this chore.
I have prior horse experience do I really need to attend training?
Yes, it's wonderful you have horse experience but we have special techniques that need to be taught and we would like all our volunteers the have the opportunity to be able to do their job effectively.
I don't have any horse experience can I still be a volunteer?
Absolutely! You will be trained and buddy up with an experienced volunteer.
Are there other ways to volunteer?
Yes! Scout Badges, Eagle Scout and Girl Scout Gold and Silver Awards, Troop Projects and Corporate Day of Service hours are all ways to help Riding with HEART!
